Action Plan for 2006-07
Sericulture is dominated by marginal and small farmers who possess,
on an average, one-acre of land and majority of them are in the
clutches of poverty because of inadequate credit flow, under
utilization of natural resources & new technology resulting in low
productivity. Most of small and marginal farmers are not getting the
expected income. This is mainly due to inadequate rearing houses,
rearing equipment, timely finance and group dynamism.
In order to increase the productivity, so as to make the price of
the silk competitive in the market, improved technologies as
recommended by the Research Institutes for separate rearing shed,
shoot rearing equipment with V1 mulberry garden planted with
saplings, Vermi compost, green mannuring, chawkie rearing etc must
be adopted. Apart from well-designed rearing house, rearing
equipment and appliances are essential inputs for the farmers
practicing sericulture. One of the important areas, an area, which
requires attention of bankers, is adequate credit flow for taking up
independent rearing houses. A well-designed rearing house is
extremely important for good productivity and quality and therefore,
rearing house should be available to the farmers to meet specific
environmental conditions.....More
