Sericulture Development Fund (SDF) 

The Sericulture Development Fund is created during the year 1991 vide G.O.Ms.No.144, Dt.31-8-1991 with an intention to develop Sericulture Industry in the state. The entire fee collected in Govt. Cocoon Markets i.e. 1% each from the Silkworm rearers and silk reelers shall constitute this fund. The Commissioner / Director of Sericulture, A.P. Hyderabad is the Chairman of the Sericulture Development Fund Authority. The Joint Director (Seri) Head office is the Member / Convener. The Committee also consists other officers, Sericulturists and silk reelers.

Every year, basing on the need of the department, the Govt. will sanction the funds from Sericulture Development Fund to implement various schemes / programs which are useful to Sericulturists in the state duly talking care of missing forward and backward linkages. The Sericulture Development Fund Authority will meet as and when required and decide the priority Items to be implemented under the Sericulture Development Fund. Accordingly, the funds will be released to the Districts.

During the year 2008-09 an amount of Rs. 87.67 Lakhs is earmarked under SDF to implement the various schemes for the benefit of sericulrists.
