Shri. D.Sreenivasalu, S/o. Ramappa of Kalipi Maruvapalli
Village of Roddam Mandal is practicing Sericulture to an extent of
1.50 acres traditionally Prior to implementation of CDP schemes, he
had local mulberry variety and was conducting rearing in his dwelling
house. He used to harvest 35-45 Kg. per 100 dfls and was selling the
cocoons for Rs. 100-120 per Kg. His annual income was only Rs.
25000-35000 per acre per annum.
He was given assistance under CDP scheme. He was provided subsidy for
construction of rearing shed, erection of shoot rearing stand and was
supplied plastic Mountages-Netrikas. He has replaced his old mulberry
variety with V1 variety under wider spacing.
Since inception of JICA programme, he is continuously rearing CSR
hybrids during favorable seasons. During unfavourable seasons i.e.,
from March to July, however, he is rearing Cross Breed. Even during
summer months, he is able to harvest good crops by taking-up Cross
Breed rearings duly availing the infrastructure provided under CDP by
harvesting 60-80 Kg. per cocoons 100 dfls.
