Andhra Pradesh State Sericulture Research and Development Institute,
Kirikera near Hindupur was established under World Bank aided
National Sericulture Project with necessary infrastructure in the
year 1995. It is playing an anchor role in the promotion of silk
industry in the state with an objective of evolving productive,
qualitative, temperature tolerant and disease resistant silkworm
hybrids.
Andhra Pradesh State Sericulture Research and Development Institute
(APSSRDI), Hindupur is rich with a variety of potential silk worm
genetic stocks comprising both bivoltine & multivoltine stock.
Research Institute is playing a vital role for the evolution of new
races which are presently essential for the development of the A.P.
State Sericulture Industry.
